GLC-33 S-Band Primary Surveillance Radar
Features of GLC-33 PSR System
The following are some features of the radar system:
- Dual Receiver Exciter/processor channels with automatic reconfiguration on failure
- High-gain antenna with improved cosecant-squared pattern having a sharp bottom edge cut-off
- Dual-beam antenna with preprogrammed selection
- Selectable circular and linear polarization
- High reliability multi module all solid-state transmitter with fail-soft operation
- Single channel frequency diversity operation
- Range and azimuth adaptive sensitivity time control (STC)
- Dual local control and status terminals also used as radar maintenance display
- Separate dedicated weather and target channels
- Intelligent BITE with remote control of diagnostic and performance monitoring
Appearance of Radar
The PSR uses dual-channel architecture to provide fault tolerant operation. The
receiver/exciter and the signal/data processor share redundant cabinets. The transmitter is
configured with sixteen parallel solid-state transmitter units. Each transmitter unit has an
associated power supply, which is mounted in it’s cabinet. The output of the transmitter is
directed to the antenna group by the microwave assembly, which also provides forward and
reverse power signals to the transmitter built-in test equipment. The microwave assembly
also routes the receive signals from the antenna group to a selected receiver.
